What the Proposed Budget Means to You, the Taxpayer…
Your tax bill will show a decrease in Library taxes in 2018. For example, if your home was assessed at $1,000,000 for 2016/17, the Library’s share of your property taxes would have been $141.60. Under the proposed budget, this would DECREASE by $31.71 to $109.89 – for the entire year. The Library’s debt service to pay for the building renovation and expansion, completed in 2009, will be paid off in December of 2017. Thanks to fundraising efforts and the support of the community, this is ten years earlier than the 20 year debt service approved by voters in 2007. Kelly Harris, the Library’s Director, will be happy to answer any questions you may have about the budget. More information about the Library's proposed 2018 operating budget can be found in the Autumn 2017 issue of the Hampton Library Link
